Mating still disrupted: Future elevated CO2 concentrations are likely to not interfere with <i>Lobesia botrana</i> and <i>Eupoecilia ambiguella</i> mating disruption in vineyards in the near future

چکیده
The successful, area-wide application of the mating disruption (MD) technique, an insect sex pheromone-based biotechnological pest control method, against European grapevine moth Lobesia botrana and grape berry Eupoecilia ambiguella, has led to drastic reductions in insecticide vineyards. However, since pheromone perception emission can be affected by abiotic conditions, future success MD may climate change. At same time, politics society are calling for sustainable pesticide application, making highly specific, efficient, environmentally friendly techniques like more important than ever. To anticipate whether change factors will interfere with L. E. ambiguella vineyards, we conducted field experiments Geisenheim VineyardFACE (Free-Air Carbon dioxide Enrichment) facility. insects were raised at ambient or elevated temperatures lab male moths released cages installed Trap recapture rates obtained lures female under CO2 areas without evaluated. Our results did not indicate a reduced efficacy ofL. concentrations, irrespective temperature under. From practical point view—and especially from ecological one—our good news. They that negatively concentrations.

Mating Disruption / SIR Predicting the success of mating disruption
Examining the many successes and failures of mating disruption reveals that there is a great deal of variability in the susceptibility of species to this control tactic. For some species, such as redbanded leafroller and oriental fruit moth, treatment with pheromone alone is often sufficient to mitigate crop damage. Other pests, such as the codling moth and certain leafrollers, appear to be mor...
متن کاملMating Disruption / SIR Evaluation of new mating disruption formulations
Mating disruption is a novel technique that has been used successfully by many apple growers for control of one or more pest species. However, this approach has not been widely adopted in some apple production regions, including Michigan. Among the factors that contribute to the relatively low adoption of mating disruption in some areas are the high cost of the technique and the presence of sev...

Mating disruption field experiments to control the vine mealybug, Planococcus ficus (Signoret) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), were carried out in 2008 and 2009 in two commercial vineyards in Sardinia (Italy). The effectiveness of mating disruption was evaluated by testing reservoir dispensers loaded with 100 mg (62.5 g/ha) and 150 mg (93.8 g/ha) of the sex pheromone in 2008 and 2009, respectively...
